After living and working in San Francisco and New York, and currently in Virginia and Maui, Hawaii, both of us have been approached by friends to create websites for their small businesses. As projects for each of us came up, we would use one another as a sounding board. The joy we found in the work was in our collaboration, so we launched Alma & Cara to combine our expertise and offer small businesses/artists an opportunity to expand online.

Alma got her start in marketing at Yahoo! Internet Life and Travel + Leisure magazines, then moved on to become an editor at Inner Ocean Publishing, a small book publisher on Maui. She recognized a need on Maui for simple, elegant graphic design at an affordable cost, so she took classes and created her first website, Maui Pilates.

Cara studied graphic design in San Francisco during the early days of the web. She has worked in small design studios and in design and interactive departments of larger agencies. In New York she spent some time teaching interactive design and then changed her teaching focus to educating children. In all endeavors she looks for opportunities for creative collaboration.
